The League of Faithful Masks
Who Are We?
We are an efficient, low-overhead, non-profit organization founded by lay theologian and journalist Dr. Uwe Siemon-Netto, and led by Dr. Jeff Mallinson, successful professionals and scholars who are interested in using our callings to serve our neighbors. The name of our organization derives from Martin Luther’s definition of faithful individuals as masks behind which God hides as he works for the good of the world. Though our work is motivated by faith, we are non-sectarian and focused on the “left hand kingdom” and thus we welcome all who are interested in collaborating with all who value civil courage and reject the selfishness that dominates contemporary culture.
Faithful Masks Fellows
LFM helps connect churches, media outlets, and community groups to our network of Lutheran scholars (many of whom are Faith Capo members). Our fellows have given lectures at several events, including Higher Things and Bjarne Wollan Teigen Reformation Lectures. They join in conversation on the Virtue in the Wasteland podcast. Drs. Siemon-Netto, Mallinson, and van Voorhis have appeared on scores of radio broadcasts, including Lutheran Radio UK, Salem Broadcasting and the Lutheran station, KFUO. They also contribute to Penultimatum, the LFM blog.
Virtue in the Wasteland Podcast
The League of Faithful Masks produces a weekly podcast as a primary format for education and outreach. We have thousands of downloads each month from listeners in more than 40 countries. It is available on iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite podcast app. Dr. Jeff Mallinson and Dr. Daniel van Voorhis discuss culture, religion, and issues that matter. They explore ways in which a proper understanding of vocation and a commitment to civil courage can help us seek goodness, truth, and beauty in our complex cultural landscape.
