“So I hated life…” This is the lament of Solomon as he looks at the arbitrary nature of the world. There is no justice and no peace. Injustice is everywhere and evil flanks every course of life. So often we try to “solve” the problem of evil, but we can’t, so we fall short. But God doesn’t want us to solve evil, because that’s what he did. He came to suffer to end suffering so that we might not be slaves to suffering. Time will show that though we appear to have nothing, we have everything because we are in Christ.
